Test with Tomex and Bio Algeen S92 algae extracts on pumpkin

The company Agroquisa and MCA Algas y Derivados have carried out a pumpkin trial with Tomex and Bio-algeen seaweed extracts in a very important area of this crop in Portugal, with the collaboration of technicians from one of the largest cooperatives in this sector.

The trial began on 25 June 2010 and ended on 16 September of the same year, in two similar plots in the area, with the same irrigation, work and application of fertilisers and phytosanitary treatments, except for the Tomex and Bio-algeen range in one of them.

Applications were made via irrigation in the case of Tomex K25 and Tomex Engorde and via foliar in the case of Bio-algeen S92 together with the phytosanitary products.

The final results of the trial were very satisfactory from the point of view of final production (number of fruits per plant, Kg. per fruit) and the final colouring of the pumpkin, which is very important for this crop. An economic study was also carried out which shows the profitability per hectare of both plots (report attached).
