News

Mr. Francisco José Bastos Gomes, Agronomist, and his team have carried out a study in olive groves with products based on algae extracts, specifically Tomex Amin in spring together with the relevant phytosanitary products and Tomex Olyen Autumn for the final fattening of the olives. All other treatments, irrigation and tillage were as usual. The trial, carried out over two consecutive years on two varieties typical of the Alentejo area (Portugal), collects as much data as possible to increase the reliability of the comparison.

The final results show a considerable increase in fat yield in the trees treated with the seaweed extracts by 3-4%. However, the most significant difference between the treated trees and the control trees was in the average weight (kg/tree) with an increase of 60% due in part to the increase in olive size and higher production. In this third season, a final trial is being carried out to demonstrate the partial elimination of vecera in the Iberian olive grove.
