1.- Beneficial effects of algae on strawberry cultivation.

Numerous studies and field trials have demonstrated beneficial effects of bio-algeen® S92 and Tomex on strawberry and strawberry crops (genus Fragaria):

➔ Our products are 100% extracts from the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum and contain mainly highly branched and high molecular weight polyuronic acids, alginates and a variety of microelements, amino acids, polysaccharides, enzymes and phytohormones, as well as all the components of the cytoplasm of the algae cells.

➔ They enhance the effect of the products that make up the plant protection product.

➔ They favour the absorption of calcium and potassium, which results in an increase in the hardness and size of the fruit, and can also reduce the doses of calcium and potassium fertilisers.

➔ They increase the plants’ natural defences, making them more resistant to disease attacks and stressful situations.

➔ They help the formation of pigments in the skin of the fruit, improving the organoleptic properties of the fruit.

➔ They have rooting properties due to their natural phytohormone content, increasing the root system of the plant throughout the crop.

2.- Dosage of our strawberry products

  • They can be mixed with the majority of phytosanitary products, both by foliar application and by root application, following the recommended guidelines.
  • The fractionation of the products at a pre-determined dose for a week makes them more effective.
  • The effectiveness of the products is improved with both foliar and root applications.
  • These are not normal algae-based products, but biocatalysts.

Foliar application: Bio-algeen S92 (several passes per year): Apply at critical moments or together with phytosanitary products to increase their action. Very important in the early stages of the plant, favouring good rooting and homogeneous growth.

  • 2-3 litres/1000 litres water (only)
  • 2 litre/1000 litres broth (with other products)

Root application: (Tomex K25) 15-20 litres/ha and year. As a general rule, applications should start during the vegetative cycle of the crop.
